Play Leader Training provides an opportunity for pupils to learn how to lead playground activity for infants in their school. During the day, pupils will consider the qualities of a successful leader and what makes a good playground session, before planning and preparing their own activities. In the afternoon, the leaders will have the opportunity to put their work into practice when they deliver their games to infants.
In 2016-17, the Partnership trained 1400 pupils to become playground leaders. Once the leaders have completed their training day, we hope that they clock up as many hours as possible on the playground, delivering organised physical activity for Key Stage 1 to help them become more physically active.
